6 ½ hours all to my special benefit
till I can make connections for
Buffalo. Dec 30th .
After waiting the specified 6 ½ hours
I find they have made and
addition of 2 hours more to
enjoy myself, that is what
I call being too liberal.
Well having put the 8 ½ hours
to as good use as I know
how I now board a Lake
Shore and Michigan Southern
train for Buffalo.
After leaving my resting place
Ashtabula I passed over
the same bridge wher or
rather the same spot where
P P Bliss was killed some
years ago by the bridge
giving way and letting the
train he was on through
onto the ice below.
After traveling again for
awhile we come in sight
of the famous Lake Erie it
was frozen over except
within a few yards from
the shore, the surrounding
country is very flat and in
some parts, it very much
resembles the accounts we
have of the West, you can
see a small village all
frame buildings and no
fences, and scattered
here and there as in an
open field, You can look
a way off and see a sleigh
appearing to be crossing the
fields but when you get
closer you can see the beaten
road, and what few trees
there are, are all around
the houses, generally orchards
